PRIVATE voice LESSONs

I teach singing in a grounded, practical way that connects you with your body, through:

-
Building blocks of good technique - breath control, diction, and resonance grow together when we're singing with alignment and ease.
-
Songs that we love - put technique to use. They become familiar territory - maps, mirrors, melodies that help us grow.
-
Principles of correct practice - we cultivate efficient ways that help you practice with your voice on your own.
Discover who you become when you learn to trust resonance over force.

It’s always fun. Usually funny, too.

WORKSHOPS/team building
Singing brings people together.

Across cultures and eras, it’s how we connect, celebrate, and remember what matters.

I lead group vocal experiences that are accessible, energizing, and grounded in connection. No singing experience needed — just willingness and courage.

Whether it’s a party, classroom, company event, or spiritual space, I guide groups into presence, shared rhythm, and yes — literal harmony.
executive vocal coaching
I help professionals across industries use their voice with more clarity, calm, and command.

As a leader, your voice is one of your most powerful tools. let me help you learn to use it.

Together, we work on practical strategies to:
-
Anchor the voice deep in the body, especially under pressure.
-
Steady the breath and heartbeat when there is a lot at stake.
-
Lead a room with clarity, authority, and quiet power.
-
Transform your terrifying presentation into a work of performance art

Who I am (bio)
I’m a lifelong singer and student of the voice — raised on international rock & roll tours by two musician parents, trained in Western classical technique as well as spiritual and experimental vocal traditions from around the world.

Over the last 25 years, I’ve built a career as a professional singer across opera, experimental, classical, and pop stages in the U.S. and Europe. Alongside that work, teaching has been vital and irreplaceable. My teaching practice, Resonance Over Force, is rooted in the demonstration that vocal power doesn’t come from pushing — it comes from coherence, curiosity, and real presence.

I’ve taught singers of all levels: conservatory students, underground artists, spiritual seekers, opera singers, so-called non-singers, and people recovering their voices after silence. My training includes classical technique (with Trish McCaffrey, Heidi Skok, Hilda Harris), Hindustani raga (with Michael Harrison), and decades of embodied stage work, ensemble collaboration, and ritual performance. I hold degrees from Sarah Lawrence College and the Manhattan School of Music, where I later served on the faculty.

Teaching has included private voice lessons, vocal coaching for pop and classical artists, theory-for-singers, group embodiment labs, Indian raga and Hildegard workshops, and online/in-person offerings. I also created and led the performance workshop VOICE CULT at House of Yes in Brooklyn — a radical space for vocal risk, freedom, and release.

Teaching voice is one of the most rewarding parts of my life.
how lessons work
In lessons, we use targeted vocal exercises, each grounded in a clear principle. You’ll learn not just what to do, but why — so your technique becomes both informed and intuitive.

We choose songs together and use them as teachers. Through them, we develop breath coordination, vowel shaping, physical awareness, and mental focus.

If needed, we also build musicianship: pitch, rhythm, timing, phrasing. These are taught step-by-step — slowly and clearly — so they become stable and embodied, never rushed or overwhelming.
Singing is physical. It’s personal. It’s a practice of finding — your breath, your body, your attention — and beginning from there.

The human voice is a million things — expressive, unpredictable, subtle, powerful.

Against that backdrop of complexity, our focus always returns to simplicity. we build coherence that leads to resonance.

Oh — and I almost forgot:
Voice lessons are playful. Fun. Occasionally hilarious.

You are the expert on your own experience. I’m here to guide, support, and challenge — but your voice is yours. Your growth is yours. -
Consistency Matters
Students who show up weekly, even when they haven’t practiced, make the deepest, most lasting progress.
Frequently asked questions
Q: When I was a kid my mom/choir teacher/sibling told me I'm tone deaf. Can I learn to sing?
A: Yes — absolutely. Very, very few people are truly tone deaf. If you feel drawn to singing, progress is always possible. Your voice is yours to relaim, no matter what anyone has ever said.

Q: Do voice lessons actually work online?
A: Yes! In fact, online lessons offer their own advantages: studying from the comfort and privacy of your own home, record the lesson for review, and stay consistent while traveling. (For optimized Zoom settings, click [here].)

Q: How long does it take to learn to sing?
A: Students who stick with weekly lessons and regular practice often see major changes within a year. Especially when they learn how to practice well.

Q: How do I practice?
A: The most effective way to practice is to re-watch your lesson video — more than once. Sing along with it. Take notes. Observe. This kind of engaged review is more valuable than an hour of scales done on autopilot.

Q: Does your technique work for different styles of singing?
A: Yes. Technique is based on how the human body and breath function — that doesn’t change. Different styles are like outfits on the same body: you can shift sound and expression, but the underlying coordination remains steady.
